The Center for Nano- and Molecular Science and Technology invites you to join us for Explore UT 2013 on Saturday, March 2, 2013, 11:00 am – 4:00 pm. The event is free and open to the public.

Come check out the nano-scale and participate in nanoscience and technology on March 2, 2013 at the Faulkner Nanoscience and Technology Building (FNT) located between Speedway and 24th Street, behind the Norman Hackerman Building (NHB). Activities include:

Frontiers of Energy Research: Nanoscience for a Cleaner Tomorrow

Location: FNT (Faulkner Nanoscience and Technology) North Parking Lot

Join the UT Energy Frontier Research Center for interactive activities with batteries and solar cells. See how a lithium-ion battery works, explore the science behind different types of solar cells, and use different juice-based solar cells to turn on lights.

Cleanroom Experience

Location: FNT (Faulkner Nanoscience and Technology) cleanroom 4.106

Put on a bunny suit and experience what is required to enter a cleanroom. View specialized equipment used to fabricate very small devices and structures.

Ants and Giants

Location: FNT (Faulkner Nanoscience and Technology) 3.110

See an operating electron microscope and learn how small a nanometer is. Watch scientists use tiny robot arms to move and cut nano wires.

Nano Playground

What does an eyelash look like blown up 2,000 times? How tall are you in nanometers? What does nanotechnology hold for the future? What effect does nanotechnology have on my life right now? Find out answers to these at the Nano Playground.

The Many Properties of Ferrofluid

Discover ferrofluid, a true nanomaterial.  Experience how it reacts to magnetic fields.  Learn what makes this a truly unique engineered material and what problems it solves.
